Beatrice shares: Experiencing a creative retreat
"Hey dear team, this is about Benny, the dog from Eichenhof. We traveled with our poodle mix, Leffe. Benny and Leffe saw each other and apparently fell in love. Benny didn’t take his eyes off us; he sat by the door at all times of the day and even took his nap in our bed. We cooked with him and went for walks with him. Benny was always there. When we left, Leffe was heartbroken and whined for many days afterward. Having Benny around was absolutely wonderful!!! One of the sweetest friendships was formed here." – Beatrice, (@cala.marie)

Everything you need for a dog-friendly holiday
One thing is certain: Dogs belong outside! Their little basket in the city apartment might be cozy, but romping around, sniffing, and discovering new paths? There’s only one place for that: out in nature. Fresh air, endless meadows, new scents – pure heaven for dogs. And for us? Mostly, too. So why not simply go on holiday together?
Pack the leash, don't forget the favourite toy, keep snacks handy, and off you go on your dog-friendly holiday: Many of our dog-friendly accommodations are specially designed to make four-legged friends feel just as comfortable as their humans. There, for a fee, a dog cushion, two bowls, and a dog towel from our partner CLOUD7 await your darling. This leaves a little more space in your travel bag, perhaps for that thick novel that has been sitting on your nightstand forever. And you can focus entirely on the adventure: think wandering through the woods in the morning, enjoying the sun on the terrace at noon, and winding down the day together in front of the fireplace in the evening.

Your dog shows you its own rhythm
A dog-friendly holiday in one of our accommodations is an invitation to experience a genuine connection – with yourself, your dog, and also with nature. Because moments often arise that get lost in everyday life: When you follow your dog's rhythm, you take more breaks, look more closely, and enjoy the simple things. Perhaps you’ll discover how your dog makes new friends (Leffe and Benny lead the way), how he curiously tracks a squirrel, leaves paw prints, and has to sniff after literally EVERYTHING – a kind of curiosity that is truly inspiring if you let yourself engage with it.
This is exactly what a dog-friendly accommodation is all about: It opens up the space for these special moments. Outside, far away from everyday life, the clock loses its meaning. We can say from experience: the realization comes at the latest in the evening, when your four-legged friend twitches contentedly in a dream and you are already looking forward to the next day!

Three Questions for Beatrice:
1. What tips would you give to someone planning a getaway with their dog?
We make sure our dog gets enough exercise before the getaway in a cabin, and that the cabin isn’t located right next to a horse paddock, because he might rush straight in. So far, we’ve simply coordinated with the owners of the paddocks to know when the animals are outside and when we should keep Leffe on a leash. We also pay attention to activities in the area that our dog would enjoy – for example, a lake where dogs are allowed.
If your dog is on a raw food diet, it’s also important to find an alternative for mealtime, since cabins usually have a fridge but no freezer (depending on the location). It’s important to keep things peaceful for everyone, so make sure your dog doesn’t bark all day if other cabins are nearby. After all, everyone deserves their own break!
We always place Leffe’s little bed right next to ours, so he can sleep cozy and warm close to us. Since Leffe doesn’t go near the fireplace and is actually quite wary of it, it’s not an issue here. Otherwise, I would train him beforehand, especially in winter, to avoid him getting too close to the heat.
2. What makes a stay in a dog-friendly accommodation particularly relaxing and enjoyable for you?
We love it when a bowl and a blanket or small bed are already set up. It immediately makes us feel that our little dog is welcome. It’s just as relaxing when we can simply open the door and let him run around freely – that’s the best way for him to start the day!
3. What did you learn about yourself and your dog during your vacation?
lYou can really see that our little city family has a bit of a nature streak. It never takes us long to unwind – the beautiful furnishings and the amazing view quickly take us out of the everyday hustle. Leffe is much more relaxed and eats noticeably better :D Probably thanks to the fresh forest air. With hardly any distractions, he often runs off-leash and is much more focused – for example, during recall training. For all of us, these little breaks are an absolute win-win situation.
